  Park Day

Park Day: is the monthly TEACH arranged Park Day. Location: Winthrop Park on the corner of Betton Rd and Mitchell, just off of Thomasville Road.

Time: 12 noon to 3pm, however, you may come earlier and stay later if desired. Many bring their lunch to eat there. The park has a great playground area, tennis courts, and ball field, so your children can bring sports equipment.

This monthly event is open to homeschoolers and provides an opportunity for moms/dads, to get aquainted, be encouraged, and bring freebie or for sale items, while their children also meet new friends and get exercise.

If you have questions, contact Esther Myers, 942-5559, mejjmyers@embarqmail.com

  Curriculum Symposium

TEACH is sponsoring a Curriculum Symposium
Why?  Because there are so many options for homeschoolers now, that we want to be sure everyone is aware of all the events/classes/co-ops/opportunities that abound in our area!

When? Friday, March 19th
Time?  6:30 -- 9:30

Where? Calvary Presbyterian
Food?  Yes, finger foods (bring to share)

Schedule of events:

6:30 -- 7:30 curriculum/class sharing time
7:30 -- 8:30 question and answer time with seasoned panel
8:30 -- 9:30 snacks and time to look at curriculum and talk individually with each other

What we need are reps from the co-ops, classes, curriculums, etc. willing to share (briefly) the opportunities offered next fall.
If you would like to come and share or if you want to recommend someone to share about a particular program, class, etc. please email me so we can get everything lined up to go.

I heard something about a school started that is part time school and part time homeschool (Boulwares maybe? Near the Every Nation church?).  If there is such a program, please let Pat ( tchfpat@gmail.com ) know who to contact.

Do we have a Charlotte Mason group?  Please let Pat know that as well. I know we have Life Co-op, Classical Conversations, a homeschool program with Christ Classical, science with Terry Hall, writing with Michelle Dean, a band, and more.  We don't want to leave anyone out.

Please forward this to homeschooling friends who may not be on this list.  Thanks so much!

  Geography Fair

What: Homeschool Geography Fair
When: March 25, 6:30 to 8:00 PM
Where: TEACH meeting @ Northwoods Baptist Church

All families are invited to participate in the upcoming TEACH Geography Fair. This is a great opportunity for your family to study a country and display what you have learned. Each family who registers to participate will be given space for a display. We encourage you to be as creative as possible but your display should include some kind of board (like a tri-fold science fair board), pictures, perhaps a recipe card or an actual sampling of food from your country, a game or activity that you could teach or hand out on a card, letters from missionaries to that country, etc. We also encourage you to dress in the attire of your chosen country, if possible. Check out this website for resources and more information about a geography fair: http://www.geographyfair.com. Please register via email to crissa.lehman@gmail.com by March 15th. Include your name and the country you wish to study.

We would like you to be completely set up NO LATER than 6:30, but you may arrive as early as 6:00 to prepare. All children in attendance, regardless of whether or not they have a display, will be given a passport to fill with fun facts as they tour the fair. At 7:30, our guest speaker Scott Bonnell of Most High Ministries will share about the ministry going on in Haiti Many of you know Scott and the work that he has been doing in Haiti, but feel free to check out his website www.hopetohaiti.com. Donations will be accepted, as you feel led.
