  Park Day

Park Day: is the monthly TEACH arranged Park Day. Location: Winthrop Park on the corner of Betton Rd and Mitchell, just off of Thomasville Road.

Time: 12 noon to 3pm, however, you may come earlier and stay later if desired. Many bring their lunch to eat there. The park has a great playground area, tennis courts, and ball field, so your children can bring sports equipment.

This monthly event is open to homeschoolers and provides an opportunity for moms/dads, to get aquainted, be encouraged, and bring freebie or for sale items, while their children also meet new friends and get exercise.

If you have questions, contact Esther Myers, 942-5559, mejjmyers@embarqmail.com

  Homeschool Curriculum Symposium

SATURDAY
April 17
9:00 -- 12:00
Calvary Pres. Church, 814 North Gadsden Street, Tallahassee

Homeschool Curriculum Symposium --Come and hear about classes and co-ops being offered in the area in order to help you plan for the future. Bring your favorite curriculum to show (if you have one), any questions you might have, and a yummy food or drink to share.

9:00 -- meet and greet, brunch (brought by participants)
9:15 -- 10:15 -- Presenters speak about classes/co-ops/services (may take less time depending on # of speakers ... 5 minute limit)
10:15 -- 10:45 -- Questions and Answers (panel of "experienced" homeschoolers)
10:45 -- 11:15 -- Time to browse curriculum and talk
Tables will be provided for showing curriculum. If you have something that has worked well for your family, bring it to show! Be prepared to stand by your table during the last session and answer questions about how to order, how you use it, etc. It would be good to have your na me clearly marked on your materials. Let us know if you will be needing a table.

If you want to share with the group during the first session about a class, co-op, service, please notify Pat Wesolowski at tchfpat@gmail.com We'll also have a table to leave fliers or brochures about services helpful to homeschoolers (piano, karate, art classes...)

If you have items to give away (homeschool related), feel free to bring them to the symposium.

We do not plan to have child care, but if you are unable to attend unless you bring your children, and if they can sit/play quietly during this time, then bring them. Nursing babies, of course, are welcome. If there are teens who are willing to babysit during this time, please announce that to
the group. We are hoping that scheduling this on Saturday morning will enable many moms to leave the children at home with dad.

As far as food goes .... it would be nice to have fruit, juice, breakfast casseroles, doughnuts, bagels, chocolate (that is a breakfast food, right?) etc. The church will provide the coffee. TEACH will provide the paper goods.

Although we are only posting this via TEACH and TCHF, feel free to bring a friend! This would be a great time to invite a friend who has wondered what homeschooling is like in the Tallahassee area.

The church lot only holds 25 cars. Carpooling would be good. You may have to park at a lot across the street, or down the street, or around the corner if the church lot is filled. Grace Church has parking on McDaniel and across the street (Gadsden) that we can use. There's an office building across from Calvary, but do not park in the reserved, covered spots.
We'll have a time of sharing fall classes and co-ops, then a Q&A session, and then time to visit and talk to individuals about past and future participation in events.

Please feel free to invite any homeschooling friends you think might want to attend.

  Teach Meeting

Teach Meeting: Northwoods Baptist Church, 6pm-8:30pm

We will be having our annual used curriculum sale April 29th at Northwoods Baptist Church. We will set up at 6:00 pm and begin the sale at 6:30 pm. We will close at 8:30 pm.

There is no fee.

You will need to price your items for sale and man your own table.

If you don't want to sell items, then make sure you mark your calendars. This is a great way to find out about curriculum and get it at a great price.

We have opened the request for 1/2 or full tables to the TCHF subcribers, so the remaining tables may soon be taken, BUT if you still want to put in your request, you may do so in hopes that there are still some available. Please contact Esther Myers at mejjmyers@embarqmail.com.
